One more month...

...until the ALA conference. I've been asked to speak about what to do in and around Chicago at the NMRT Orientation session Saturday morning. So, if this is your first conference, like me, or you're new to Chicago, unlike me, come check it out for some really valuable information.

Entry-level jobs?

Thanks to Mary Towner for bringing this article to my attention. I've long been wondering what the ratio of "entry-level" jobs is compared to the rest of the library job market. I also liked how the authors surveyed the institutions offering entry-level positions to see who they had applying and who they hired. Basically, this article confirmed a lot of my experiences as a job hunter: there are fewer full-time entry-level positions, and a lot of my competitors have been in the field for more than three years because they are finding the job market very tight for their level of experience. It will be interesting to see what reaction, if any, this article garners.
